The Mountain of Seven Colors (also known as Vinicunca or Rainbow Mountain) is one of the most spectacular natural attractions in the Peruvian Andes. Located in the Vilcanota mountain range, its mesmerizing bands of green, pink, gold, and turquoise are the result of millions of years of mineral sedimentation. This hike is a true personal challenge that rewards every effort with breathtaking panoramic views of the mountain range.
Do you have any questions about the schedule? Write to us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
The trail isn’t technically difficult or extremely steep, but the main challenge lies in the altitude (5,020 meters above sea level) and the lower oxygen levels. Maintaining a steady, unhurried pace is key.
Yes, local community members offer horse rentals along the trail. You can rent one at the beginning or at intermediate points if you feel tired. Payment is made directly to the community members in cash.
The best time is during the Andean dry season (May to October), when the days are sunny and clear, allowing you to appreciate the colors in their full splendor.
Our trained guides carry a medical oxygen tank and first aid kit. In case of persistent altitude sickness, you will be assisted immediately with a safe descent to a lower altitude.
